Britain gives Baroness Thatcher send-off she deserved.

The family of Baroness Thatcher line up for a final farewell as the coffin of Britain's greatest peacetime Prime Minister is carried away from St Paul's Cathedral this afternoon.

Lady Thatcher's daughter Carol (left) stood next to (left to right) her partner Marco Grass, Sarah Thatcher, Mark Thatcher, and Lady Thatcher's grandchildren Michael and Amanda following a moving ceremony.

Amanda Thatcher, 19, proved she has inherited the legendary courage of her grandmother that earned her the moniker of Iron Lady with a faultless delivery of the service's first reading before the 2,300 mourners and a worldwide television audience of millions.

Among the mourners were the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, Prime Minister David Cameron and former Prime Ministers including Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.

The coffin had earlier been carried into the cathedral by a tri-service bearer party all drawn from ships, squadrons and regiments associated with the Falklands.

An estimated 250,000 people had lined the streets of London to cheer and applaud the coffin as it made its way through the capital on a gun carriage.
