We Have Guns and Bullets Than Nigeria Police, That Is Why We Used To K*ll Them

A suspected armed robbery kingpin whose gang allegedly k**led four policemen in an operation recently has explained why they were able to perform the feat. Oluwole, a.k.a Omoba told Crime Watch at the police headquarters, Ikeja, Lagos that they usually overpower men of the Nigeria Police during gun battle because “we always have enough arms and ammunition."

"We were always armed to the teeth. You see, the police have limited arms and ammunition that they carry about but for us, we always have more than enough.”

According to Omoba, he started armed robbery five years ago and his gang had been successful except recently when they stormed Victoria Garden City (VGC) and met unusual resistance from the police.

“I think, we had been very successful for the past five years. We had robbed in many Southern states until the recent robbery at VGC where two of our members were killed. It was on March 24, the police opened fire on us. The gunshots were from back, front and the two sides. I managed to escaped but Paul and AY were k**led.

“It was not like that in other states. [In some areas] when we fire back at police, they used to run for their lives, but these Lagos policemen were shooting and shooting that I asked my men to shoot their ways out. I was shocked with the kind of shooting I experienced that day.

"In fact, since the encounter with the police, I have not gone for any robbery operation. I am still in shock, I wonder why the police were still trailing me,” he said.

On why he chosed Ajah and Lekki axis for operations, he said, “I think you know that people don’t keep money at home as they used to do. If we operate in places like Agege, Ejigbo and Ketu, how much can we find in a home? But, in Lekki, VGC and part of Ajah, we have rich men that still keep reasonable amount of money in their homes. My brother, we have to use our brain to work.”

Parading Omoba and three other members of his gang, Lagos Commissioner of Police, Umar Manko, said that on April 11, 2013, during a follow up to the robbery operation at VGC, the officer in charge of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) Abba Kyari and his team arrested two armed robbery suspects. He said Alpha Uche who was shot dead during encounter with police and one Ibrahim Akanbi confessed.

The CP warned criminals, especially armed robbers, to leave the state or risked the wrath of the police. “Whether the criminals operate in another state and run to Lagos, we don’t want it, as we will fish them out", he declared.

Koran Says You Can Forcefully Sleep With Non-Muslim Women In War

Another Islamic cleric recently made it permissible for the Islamic fighters waging a jihad in Syria—politely known as “the opposition”—to r*pe the nation’s women.

Salafi Sheikh Yasir al-’Ajlawni, a Jordanian of origin who earlier lived in Damascus, Syria for 17 years, posted a YouTube video last week where he said he was preparing to issue a “legitimate fatwa” making it legal (in the eyes of Islam) for those Muslims fighting to topple secular president Bashar Assad and install Sharia law to “capture and have s*x with” all non-Sunni women, specifically naming Assad’s own sect, the Alawites, as well as the Druze and several others, in short, all non-Sunnis and non-Muslims.

The sheikh used Islam’s legitimate Arabic term for these hapless, non-Muslim women, melk al-yamin, a phrase that appears in Islam’s sacred book, the Koran, and which is simply a reference to non-Muslim s*x-slaves.

For example, Koran 4:3 commands Muslim men to “Marry such women as seem good to you, two and three and four… or what your right hands possess.”

Islam’s ulema, or “scholars,” are unanimously agreed that “what your right hands possess” is, according to Islamic law, simply a s*x-slave. Linguistic evidence further suggests that she is seen more as an animal or a possession than a human—hence this inhuman fatwa.
Jordanian Sheih Yasir al-’Ajlawni is certainly not the first cleric to legitimize the r*pe of infidel women in recent times. Calls to capture and r*pe non-Muslim women are appearing with increasing frequency from all corners of the Islamic world.
A few months earlier, Saudi preacher Muhammad al-Arifi also issued a fatwa allowing jihadi fighters to engage in “intercourse marriage” with captive Syrian women that lasts for a few hours “in order to give each fighter a turn”—also known as gang-r*pe.
Then there is Egyptian Sheikh Ishaq Huwaini, who once lectured on how infidel captives, or to use another term from the Koran, ghanima, the “spoils of war,” are to be distributed among the jihadis and taken to “the slave market, where slave-girls and concubines are sold.”

He, too, referred to such women as “what your right hands possess,” saying: “You go to the market and buy her, and she becomes like your legal mate—though without a contract, a guardian, or any of that stuff—and this is agreed upon by the ulema… In other words, when I want a s*x-slave, I go to the market and pick whichever female I desire and buy her.”
Indeed, even some Muslim women advocate the enslavement
and r*pe of fellow (non-Muslim) women. Kuwaiti political activist, Salwa al-Mutairi, for instance, is working to see the institution of s*x-slavery return.

In a video she posted online, she explained how she once asked Islam’s greatest authorities living in the city of Mecca, the city of Islam, about the legality of s*x-slavery and how they all confirmed it to be perfectly legitimate. According to Mutairi:
“A Muslim state must first attack a Christian state—sorry, I mean any non-Muslim state—and they (the women, the future s*x-slaves) must be captives of the raid. Is this forbidden?

Not at all, according to Islam, s*x slaves are not at all forbidden. Quite the contrary, the rules regulating s*x-slaves differ from those for free women (i.e., Muslim women).

The latter’s body must be covered entirely, except for her face and hands, whereas the s*x-slave is kept unclad from the bellyb*tton on up—she is different from the free woman, the free woman has to be married properly to her husband, but the s*x-slave—he just buys her and that’s that.”
The Kuwaiti activist went on to offer concrete suggestions: “For example, in the Chechnya war, surely there are female Russian captives. So go and buy those and sell them here in Kuwait, better that than have our men engage in forbidden s*xual relations. I don’t see any problem in this, no problem at all.”

Okonjo-Iweala's Mother Kidnap: Gang Confesses, President Jonathan's Name Mentioned...

A former servant at the palace of the traditional ruler of Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State, where the mother of the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, was kidnapped has confessed that he gave the kidnappers the necessary information for the dirty job.

He said, “I’m 32 years old and I worked in the palace from 2007 to 2012 after which I left because the pay [my salary] was too little. A friend of mine approached me and told me that I could make a lot of money if I gave kidnappers information on how to get into the palace."

The suspect, Chiejine Onochie, told Punch that although the kidnappers collected N13m as ransom before the 83-year-old Prof. Kamene Okonjo was released last December, he was not given any money and therefore, was not culpable.

“After the operation, I did not get a dime. It was later that I learnt that they had collected N13m as ransom. I felt cheated and I left everything to God.

"I cannot be held for the crime because when police started arresting people, I went to report at the station voluntarily, I was not dragged to the station,” Onochie insisted.

Another suspect, Jideofor Ogbue, aka Marvelous, who claimed to be the leader of the gang, said after gaining entrance into the palace, he and his gang members did not force Okonjo out of the palace but she followed them willingly after they had told her that they were sent by President Goodluck Jonathan.

The 22-year-old said, “It was my friend, Ifeanyi, that informed me about the operation. On the day of the kidnap, we had no difficulty because Onochie had told us that the security around the palace was lax. Although 12 of us were involved in the operation, only eight actually went to the palace.

“We went with three AK47 rifles and a pump-action rifle. When the woman (Okonjo) saw us, she asked who we were and we told her that President Goodluck Jonathan sent us from Abuja to arrest her because her daughter (Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala) had embezzled public funds.

“We took her to Kwale and her family paid us N13m as ransom. They packaged the money in polythene bags and dropped it around an expressway in Benin. My share was N2m.”

Another guy, Chukwuma Okoh, who claimed to be a graduate of Accounting and Finance from Ambrose Alli University, said he joined the gang because of unemployment. He said he was not given any money after the operation.

He said, “I’m 31 years old and I graduated in 2007. Since then, it has been hard to get a decent job. It was Onochie that brought the idea of kidnapping Okonjo-Iweala’s mother. However, as God is my witness, I did not receive a dime from the gang after the operation.”

Nigerian (20) Sets Record As the Youngest Graduate Commercial Licence Pilot.

A 20-year-old Nigerian, Favour Odozor, has emerged as the youngest with the Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) in both Nigeria and South Africa. Mr. Odozor who graduated alongside 15 other trained pilots at the Afrika Union Aviation Academy (AUAA), Mafikeng, South Africa on Saturday was described as the new hope of the African aviation industry. Capt. Allan Roebuck, Director of AUAA, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Johannesburg that Mr. Odozor completed all the 37 flying procedures in record time.

“The academy is proud of this young Nigerian, with the award of licence and certificate to him. Today, I can say he is the youngest commercial licence pilot in both Nigeria and South Africa.

“I cannot say now if he is the youngest African to attain that record, but I’m sure he is the youngest in South Africa and Nigeria,’’ he said.

The AUAA director noted that it requires a lot of hard work, focus, punctuality and discipline to be trained as a commercial pilot.

“It is not enough to be academically sound to be a good pilot. It requires focus, punctuality, and discipline to get the commercial licence and certificate.

“It has been a long road for the group of qualified pilots to obtain their licences. With the award of certificate, they can fly commercial planes,’’ Mr. Roebuck said.

He said the new pilots underwent two years of rigorous training and 37 flying procedures.

On his part, Mr. Odozor said he had always dreamt of becoming a pilot.
“Flying a plane has been my childhood dream, and I am happy today that I’m a licensed commercial pilot at the age of 20.
“I never expected myself to be the youngest Nigerian to get the commercial pilot licence, not to talk about in an advanced country like South Africa. I was just pursuing my childhood dream of being a pilot.
“But I thank God that I have now made history, as a record licensed commercial pilot in both Nigeria and South Africa,’’ Mr. Odozor said.
He said his immediate plan was to go for his instrument type and rating courses.
“Aviation training is very wide. This is just the beginning. My immediate plan is to enrol for my instrument type rating and Boeing 737 training courses,’’ Mr. Odozor said.

The students, Omoeneme Maureen, Ajao Aminat Romoke and Oludegun Morufat Olayinka, have been missing from the school for several weeks, and had become a source of worry for the college management and their parents.

The school authorities and the families of the three100 level French students, had searched various parts of the state including various accidents scenes and mortuaries during the search for the students.

There had also been rumours that ritualists might have kidnapped and used the ladies for ulterior actions.

One of the girls eventually made contact and told a search party that they were in Dubai to seek greener pastures.

When contacted, the Registrar of the College, Tunji Kanimodo, confirmed the story, adding that the students’ action was amazing.

Buying A Private Jet Is Necessary For God's Work - Pastor Adeboye

Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has justified his purchase of a private jet saying it is necessary for his work.

Mr. Adeboye, one of the most respected Christian leaders in Nigeria and the head of the Redeemed Church that has millions of members across 160 countries, stated this in an interview with global news channel, Aljazeera.

The pastor said “there are things you need,” to perform the task he does as the general overseer.

“When you have to oversee churches in 160 countries, you can’t do that on a bicycle,” he said in response to a specific question on whether he needed to have acquired a private jet.

Though considered unique in his simple appearance and un-flamboyant lifestyle, Mr. Adeboye is one of the increasing numbers of Pentecostal pastors that have acquired private jets, leading to condemnations by some Nigerians.

The other private jet acquiring pastors include David Oyedepo, the head of the Living Faith Church Worldwide; and Ayo Oritsejafor, the current President of the Christian Association of Nigeria.

FG Bans Film On Nigerian Poverty And Corruption

The Nigerian government has banned the airing and distribution of the documentary, Fueling Poverty, a 30-minute film which documents the massive poverty in Nigeria and advocates against corruption and greed in the country.

The documentary, released late in 2012, was produced by young filmmaker, Ishaya Bako, in partnership with the Open Society for West Africa [OSIWA].

After the project was completed last year, Mr. Bako sent it in to the National Film and Video Censors Board, NFVCB, a national agency which vets, classifies, and approves films and videos meant for distribution and exhibition in Nigeria.

But in an April 8 letter to Mr. Bako, exclusively obtained by PREMIUM TIMES Friday, the agency prohibited the distribution and exhibition of the documentary in Nigeria, saying its contents “are highly provocative and likely to incite or encourage public disorder and undermine national security.”

The letter, signed by the NFVCB’s Head of Legal Services, Effiong Inwang, warned the filmmaker against violating the order, saying “all relevant national security agencies are on the alert. A copy of this letter has been sent to the Director General, Department of State Services and the Inspector General of Police for their information.”

The banning of the documentary, seen by critics as further evidence of Nigeria’s creeping descent into dictatorship, came on the same day that four journalists of Abuja-based Leadership newspaper were detained by the police for refusing to name their source for a story which alleged the presidency was plotting to sabotage the merger of the leading opposition parties in the country.

A review of Fueling Poverty

Fueling Poverty, which addresses the serious issue of corruption in governance, compresses the reality of Nigerians into a 30- minutes film that immediately evokes a lot of passion-mostly anger.

The documentary goes into life, sucks from it and forms art out of it. In this sense, there is a connection between art and community in a way that art operates, socially responsible to the society it belongs.

The producers of Fueling Poverty say the essential aim of the documentary is to re-enact the “process of change driven by Nigerians.”

In the mind of the filmmaker, Bako, if Nigerians are properly educated, they can hold government responsible and accountable to its actions. So, in his 30 minutes production, he tries to document the reality of contemporary Nigerian abyss and chaos, but laces the the work with a pungent advocacy against corruption and greed.

Inspired by the huge scam around the fuel subsidy exposed last year, Fueling Poverty was originally designed to be a film “advocating for the full implementation of the report of the fuel subsidy probe,” however, its final realization included intrigues by Nigerian leaders who mange the oil resource and the uncanny manner in which the report of a probe into the fuel subsidy scam was turned into a charade. The film ultimately evolved into one moving, though painful, narrative against corruption and materialism in Nigeria.

The film, Mr. Bako says, was “not just talking about scam but the culture and greed in Nigeria”. He said it was a timely and interesting journey, because the film covers “real issues, on everyday life.”

The documentary is announced with an attention grabbing sound track, by Femi Kuti. He was one of the prominent figures of the occupy movement with ordinary Nigerian instantaneously drawn to him because of the popularity of his songs and his savour for criticising Nigeria’s government, something Femi Kuti learned from his father, Fela, whom Nigerians still revere.

The documentary starts with the strong presence of Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka, and his commandeering voice which immediately seizes a viewer into listening. He characterizes the subsidy scheme “a seven billion scam perpetrated at the federal government level. …[as] essentially a scam scheme.” He goes on to relate it to the prevailing corruption in Nigeria’s ruling class.

The film then transits to actual footages of the occupy era. It was dominated by actual events of the occupy Nigeria movement, printed material of newspaper reports , recreations with animations, interviews with renowned Nigerians, and interviews of ordinary Nigerians impacted by the subsidy removal from fuel in January and the rising cost of fuel occasioned by the corruption in governance.

The filmmaker uses a lot of panoramic shots especially in presenting the occupy protests. This is particularly brilliant as it tells of the high number of Nigerians who were aggrieved at the exorbitant price of the fuel and the attendant poverty. Then, there are footages that recall the real violence government perpetrated on Nigerians during the protest with the aid of its armed personnel.

The fraud perpetrated by independent importers of fuel and Nigeria’s statutory oil agencies, was brought to lime light in the documentary. It captures footages of some of the sittings of investigations into the subsidy scam. At this point, what the viewer sees are various government officials brandishing contradictory figures, exposing the ongoing sleaze and sloppiness with which the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and Petroleum Product Pricing Regulatory Agency handle the resource which Nigeria’s economy is heavily dependent on. There is also an insight into how independent marketers get subsidy payments for products that were never imported.

Mr. Bako, with his documentary, tried to articulate the sentiments, emotions and the frustrations of Nigerians. His method of selecting footages from reality and editing it to form a coherent, informative art is ingenious. He gives the viewer a peek into the lives of ordinary Nigerians who are affected by corruption in the oil industry. Several times, the viewer hears the voices of Nigerians in their own language, without sophistication narrating the pangs of the corruption.

In those voices, there is a lot of anguish, tales of not being able to afford a living, tales of frustrations abound, but most worrisome are the tales of resignation. One of the documentary’s participants, a commercial bus driver who is on an extremely long fuel queue that is characteristic of fuel stations across Nigeria, is heard saying “we can’t fight the government… they are bigger than us”.

In that scene, beside the revelation that the untold hardship and the corruption in Nigeria has created; there is a remarkable connection between the inability of government to address the corruption in the oil sector and the extremely long queues witnessed at filling station 11 months after the fuel subsidy scam was highlighted. Yet, 11 months after, no government official has been convicted.

The film wraps up with another Femi Kuti’s song, ‘bo bo’, a slang for lie. The song speaks about the lies of Nigerian leaders.

This immediately transports the viewer to January, when Nigerians staged the occupy Nigeria and shut down the economy of Nigeria. The sound track served as one of the major thematic songs, energising people at the various occupy centres especially in Lagos. At that time, a lot of Nigerians felt power in their hands, power to tackle corruption in governance.

It did not last for long.

Just one week after the protest, the strike was called off by the Nigerian Labour Congress, one of the key participants in the protest. Nigerians were left disillusioned. But the filmmaker says the film is a call to action, a reminder that citizens can hold their officials accountable.

President Goodluck Jonathan and Press Freedom

Press freedom in Nigeria has increasingly come under threat since President Jonathan was elected in 2011.

On December 24, the State Security Service, SSS, in a military-era jack-boot tactics, stormed the homes of two journalists who write for Al-Mizan, a Kaduna-based Hausa language newspaper, and arrested them.

They were arrested over a story which detailed how the Joint Task Force in Yobe State was allegedly engaging in extra-judicial arrests and murder of innocent citizens.

The two journalists were released on January 1 without charge only for one of them to be rearrested on February 14. He was released on February 22 and no charges were pressed against him.

On February 12, two radio journalists of Wazobia FM and a cleric were arrested and charged to court over allegations that their programme triggered the killing of nine female healthcare workers shot to death in the restive northern metropolis.

The Kano state police claimed the radio reporters incited the killings when they discussed fears about the vaccination campaign.

On February 22, the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, suspended the operating license of Wazobia FM over the same matter.

The NBC continued with its muzzling agenda on March 3 when it suspended the broadcast of a popular programme, Dimokradiyya a you, on Radio Gotel, Yola. The station is owned by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who is especially critical of President Jonathan.

I'm Not The Father Of My Wife's 4 Children

It was drama undiluted at an Abia High court recently when a married man, Mr Richard Harrison prayed the court to dissolved his marriage to his wife, Julia over alleged infidelity.

In a suit brought through his counsel, Mr Stanley Amakwe, Harrison sought the leave of the court to dissolve the marriage on the ground that the marriage contract had broken down. He also insisted that the two sets of twins in the family are not his children.

Harrison claimed they were adopted by his wife without his consent and that he would have nothing to do with them any more. He told the court that he initially accepted the children in his home out of sympathy, but that it is time for them to leave with his wife.

Funny enough, the court sitting in Uzuakoli rejected Harrison's plea for the dissolution of his marriage over the paternity of two sets of twins in his home. The presiding Judge, Justice Joyce Adiele, said Harrison had no basis to deny the paternity of the children since they had been part of his household.

She said that the petitioner had earlier told the court that the two sets of twins were his children and that he had great plans for them. Justice Adiele said Section 69(c) of the Matrimonial Causes Act provides hat children in a marriage whether by birth or adoption are part of the marriage.

But surprisingly, counsel to his wife, Julia, told the court that the husband was the biological father of the children, claiming they were not adopted as claimed.

The counsel thus applied for an order of the court for a DNA test between Harrison and the children to authenticate the claims of his wife.

BREAKING NEWS: Boko Haram Gives FG New Conditions

A leader of the Boko Haram sect, Muhammad Marwan, has said that if the Federal Government would not blackmail or deceive them as was done in the past, they will be ready to avail themselves for dialogue as was initiated by the Northern Elders Forum.

Marwan spoke in an interview with the Hausa Service of the Voice of America (VOA) monitored in Kaduna on Tuesday, adding that he was speaking on behalf of members of Jamatul Ahlus Sunnati lil Daawati wal Jihad, otherwise known as Boko Haram, on the call by Northern Elders Forum for amnesty for the sect members.

“We thank Allah, we will extend our hands for dialogue to the northern elders just as was done before under my leadership. But if they come there shouldn’t be any deceit in it as was experienced in the past,” he said.

Marwan, who said they were yet to be contacted on the issue of amnesty, however agreed that dialogue was the most important thing in settling matters between aggrieved parties and hoped that a genuine and sincere discussion would eventually lead to amicable resolution of the dispute.

His words: My hope is this, everyday, it is the government that is seeking for this ,on matters pertaining to everyday life, we thank Allah our hope is that there shouldn’t be any deceit, let them come for it. This dialogue is the most important, it is what people want, anytime the issue of dialogue comes in, it is what people are looking for to settle matters between two warring factions.

“Nobody contacted us on this amnesty and we did not contact anybody also. What I’m saying now, truly you are talking with Muhammad Marwan and those that sat with me in the past, will definitely know that you are talking to Muhammad Marwan. I hope if they come through the right channel just as they came to us in the past, Allah willing, they will achieve the desired result. I am assuring the Muslim community particularly in the North, the desired result will be achieved but they should pray so that there will not be any blackmail and deceit on the government’s part as was experienced in the past. This should be their prayers,” he said.

Similarly, an analyst on Boko Haram issues currently in Washington DC for a course, Hamza Idris also spoke with the VOA Hausa Service on the proposed amnesty for the Boko Haram members, saying it’s a good intention but urged that there were certain matters that have to be looked at critically.

“For example it’s a person who believes he has offended that you can now tell that he has been forgiven. That’s my believe in the years that I’ve been writing on the Boko Haram. This is because the sect members still believe they have been offended, that the Federal Government offended them and therefore, if it comes to forgiving, it is they , if they wanted, that will forgive the federal government and not the government to forgive them. “

“Their thinking is what have they done? Like all these security breaches, in their opinion they feel it is like a revenge on what was done to them in 2009. The killing of their leader, destroying their mosque and dispersing the sect members. The government said that all their activities are not recognized by law.

“So when they decided to retaliate, they said they don’t even believe there is anything like government or leadership in the whole of Nigeria. So if you are granting amnesty to someone who doesn’t even recognize your existence, then there is a missing link. They don’t even believe in the existence of the Federal Government so it is something ambiguous to say you are granting them amnesty.

“But in my understanding, there are certain things that should be done. If you look at the past few months, their leader, Abubakar Shekau and those talking for the group have been explaining certain things ,if these things will be carefully looked at, if honest people will be engaged, religious leaders and so on, if people that will not bring the issues of politics will be involved, it will not be a surprise to achieve success.

“First and foremost, the kind of ideology they adopted is independent,on what pertains to religion. If you look at the constitution ,it gives people the freedom of worship. But when they were dispersed, they were denied the freedom to practice their kind of religion. When their mosque was destroyed, anybody who comes out and professed their kind of religion will be dealt with, security agents will arrest him and say the federal government is not in support of that religious creed. So it is therefore necessary to sit down with them and discuss these issues toward resolving them.

“Secondly, many of the sect members have been arrested and detained in prisons, military, police and other security camps like that of the SSS. They explained that it will not be possible to sit down with you for dialogue when everyday, your members are being arrested and detained.

“They also talked about their little children, wives that are detained and they believe in the whole world, nowhere is a war fought and children with their mothers are arrest and taken to unknown destinations. These are important issues that should be put on table to deliberate and find the solution.

“Also, this talk of nobody knows them, they are ghosts etc, it is an important problem that should be resolved. For example, the President had said he won’t grant amnesty to ghosts, and now he agreed to grant the amnesty to ghosts. This is difficult problem, in my opinion that statement should be changed, it should be now there are some sect members in detention and we are going to start discussing with them. If the talks are genuine and sincere, perhaps it won’t be difficult to achieve result.

“Many of them are detained, some in Abuja, some in Maiduguri, many were taken to other towns in the South. If you are talking of the youth, they are countless. If for example there was a raid in Maiduguri,40 to 50 youths will be arrested at a time .Weapons will be displayed that they belonged to the youths. So if such things are happening, the idea that no one knows them does not even arise. If you will arrest 40 and claim to have discovered certain weapons from them, them the idea of saying you don’t know them shouldn’t arise,” he said.
